Sapthamatha Temple – A quick evening getaway

Sapthamatha temple is located on a hill top. The distance from Marathahalli is around 35 kms and takes about an hour. It is better to go all the way until Chennai highways and take the Malur exit. Though the Malur exit is a double road with a divider, there are way too many potholes.

Sapthamatha (seven deities) temple is almost 300 years old. The seven deities are Brahmi, Maheshwari, Koumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani and Chamundeshwari. Also, on the peripheral walls, you have the idols of Parvati, Mahalakshmi and Saraswathi. The temple got renovated 2 years back with funding from Kanchi Shankaracharya to propagate and uphold Dharma. Every year, post Ramanavami, grand celebrations happen at the temple complex.
