Shivasamudra falls

9th August, 2020

I had always wanted to visit Shivanasamudra falls when the outflow of Cauvery is more than one hundred thousand cusecs. With the most of Karnataka unbolted, I just waited for the right time and it happened to be precisely one year after our iconic monsoon trip.

We started leisurely post breakfast from the home as there was no hurry. During my entire decade long stay at Bangalore, I never wandered via Kanakapura road to Mysore. The roads to Shivanasamudra via Kanakapura had plenty of potholes for the first 40 odd kms, it became smoother thereafter. Post that, the cruise stayed upto my expectation of curvy roads through mountainous region. We ate our packed lunch in the car under a shade.

We reached the Cauvery Bridge and the site was one to behold. Thunderous Cauvery with more than one hundred and a half thousand cusecs. We got down and spent good fifteen twenty minutes soaking in the overcast condition with the roaring river.

We went to the Barachukki falls. Undeterred by the pandemic, there was a mammoth crowd to witness the deluge.

Zooming in: Because of the large volumes of water, literally there was hardly a fall. Mesmerising sight.

Not just that, there was a light drizzle in the air and it was one of those ideal evenings. We stopped again near a bridge to adore the river at a crowd less place.

Black clouds gathered soon and in no time, it started raining.

Enroute stopped at a field to revel in the fragrance of these beautiful flowers.

While returning, I just took my familiar route via Chanapatna as we had to purchase some toys for my kid. We reached our home for dinner.
